2/7 Reflection + Changes

 It’s such a rewarding feeling to finally see the end results of all our planning and work. After editing all the footage together we made a few changes. After chronologically sorting the footage, we had an extra 30 seconds of footage that we had to somehow get rid of. So we deleted the phone scene because unfortunately we did not capture the driver throwing it out the window so it didn’t make much sense to keep it in,  and a lot, A LOT of our main character running because the shots were too repetitive and prolonged. We also decided to not add a filter because after trying some out the natural color scheme was the look we were looking for. One thing i’ve learned from this is how important it is to know how to use the camera you’re filming on because most of the scenes in the beginning are very bright, so i tried to dim them down a little in editing but now i know what to pay attention to next time. Some of the music i wanted to add before i decided not to because after filming and seeing all the footage together it didn’t really suit what i was looking for, and when i found the whispering thoughts mp4 and out it over the footage it was like putting the last piece in a puzzle! Another realization i made was how editing and sound effects can change a film in great extents. Before adding those extra touches i wasn’t too confident of our work but after seeing it all come together i am proud of what we accomplished. This process has been long and confusing but i’ve learned a lot throughout. Using the techniques we have learned in class and researched online has taught me that there are endless ways to portray any scene and inspires me to be more creative in my projects to come. Overall, i think from start to finish every change we made in the project was necessary and aided in making it what it is currently. I hope you guys enjoy it as much as we enjoyed making it. Mise en scene updates

in order to set the scene as creepy and ominous we are gonna make everyone appear as if they are ungroomed and dirty. For the driver we are using fake blood to make him appear crazy

as for post production i was thinking of putting a filter over the film to set the tone  

i was thinking of either noir or transfer because both give off an uninviting tones

2/24 script and title coming together

WE FOUND A TITLE!!! we chose dimension zero, i like it because it doesnt give away too much information but hints at a warped reality.

SCRIPT

waking in forest

LEAH OPENS EYES IN EXTREME CLOSE UP, CAMERA PANS OUTWARD TO REVEAL HER LOCATION AND A LONG SHOT

LEAH

looks around in pure confusion

(under breath) Where... where am i?

over the shoulder

Gets up in a daze hears sound and runs

tracking shot

Leah finally reaches where the forest meets the road

Leah runs into road looking in both directions desperate for help

3/31 actors

For our actors we made everyone wear all black in order to indicate that something is off, however as seen in the photo our main character is wearing a regular, more civilized outfit to signify that she is different than the rest.







i will include some sneak peaks of the footage when it downloads. As for tomorrow in class im hoping to discuss our options in terms of music.
we changed our story a little bit, the insane people were chanting an unknown language, screaming barbarically and chasing her. It is up to the viewers imagination to figure out what exactly happened to society, which, if we had filmed the entire movie, they wouldve figured out the whole plot. We made all the scenes extremely suspenseful so viewers will be enticed to see what happens next, and essentially put them in the main characters shoes.

3/31 FINALLY FILMED!!!

Today was the day! sofia finally got back from her trip and we went out and filmed! i am so excited to edit and see the finished product. Filming was successful in terms of shots, i did a lot of them i was planning to do in some of the previous posts. Some difficulties we faced was the passing traffic due to our spot being right off the highway lol. we originally were gonna film at a different spot, which i showed you guys earlier but we found this one very close, and it was even better because the vegetation was overgrown and the gate looked super run down it was just the look we were looking for



in terms of props i asked my brother to use his scuba diving knife, and sofia let us borrow her butcher knife and duck tape to make it seem as if the "kidnapper" is dangerous.
